Get ahead of the game and join at age 16 as a junior firefighter, learn the fire service and firefighting operations before attending the fire academy when you turn 18. This opportunity allows you to train with the firefighters, ride to certain fire calls on the truck and attend banquets ad various events with the fire company.
Already 18 no problem, the Gloucester County Fire Academy has two fire schools a year one starting in January and the other starting in August. The academy is approximately 220 hours (two nights a week and every other weekend) of training that includes classroom, hands on and live burn scenarios. This course provides you with the requirements to become New Jersey State certified as a firefighter.
HOW TO APPLY
STOP UP AT THE STATION MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 8:00AM-3:30PM AND TALK TO THE CAREER STAFF WHO CAN SHOW YOU AROUND THE FIREHOUSE AND PRINT YOU OUT AN APPLICATION
STOP UP AT THE STATION EVERY 2ND OR 4TH TUESDAY NIGHT 6:30PM-9:00PM AND TALK TO A VOLUNTEER DURING DRILL NIGHT, YOU CAN HANG OUT AND WITNESS A DRILL AND SEE IF THIS MAY BE FORE YOU, ALSO SOMEONE CAN PRINT YOU OUT AN APPLICATION
STOP UP EVERY LAST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH 7:00PM AND SPEAK TO A MEMBER ON THE NIGHT OF OUR REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING, SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO PRINT YOU AN APPLICATION
FEEL FREE TO CALL THE FIREHOUSE AT ANYTIME TO TALK TO SOMEONE WHO CAN POINT YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, IF NO ONE ANSWERS LEAVE A MESSAGE AND SOMEONE WILL RETURN THE CALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
